Great alternative to GoPro Dual Battery Charger

Re-fuel GoPro Dual Battery Charger Review

Alternative Energy Uses In The Military

Most governments and corporations are looking at alternative energy strategies to produce power without the use of fossil fuels, all trying to curb their emissions of CO2. But, you’d be surprised that most militaries are also using alternative energy strategies, and it makes sense because a military moves on its fuel and food for its personnel. Anyone that studies military history knows just how critical this is. Not long ago, a technologist interviewed me and asked about alternative energy exploits for war planners. Let’s talk.

Daniel asks: “Will we see the use of alternative energies in the military industry?”

Yes, of course. A couple of reasons;

(1) The push for Climate Change is sending lots of research dollars into alternative energy, and the militaries of the world need energy, it takes a lot of energy to run a Navy, Army, or Air Force. Hint: Nuclear Powered Aircraft Carriers and Submarines. As these alternative energy innovations come into fruition and can compete with fossil fuels on cost, we will see much more of them, and;

(2) Consider that. like the radar signature on a stealth aircraft, having a smoke stack smoking up a storm on a large ship — like the Russian Aircraft Carrier Admiral Kuznetsov (old smokey – quite embarrassing) — it gives up its position pretty quickly.

Right now, we must realize that oil prices are low and fossil fuels have a lot of energy packed into those little molecules, and that’s hard to beat for powerful afterburners. If oil prices go back up, that will be reason number 3.

As far as biofuels go, we are a ways off, and the cost is way too high to justify, but who knows in the future, maybe some brilliant genius will take home a Nobel Prize for figuring it out, that would be a game-changer. When it comes to solar, well, the prices have really come down and the efficiency has really gone up. That along with battery performance — improving duration, lowering weight, faster re-charging, and lower overall costs due to scaled up production — we can be assured more use of solar power in militaries across the planet, but only when it makes sense and if it works – remember when it comes to the military it’s all about operational readiness, and a foot soldier who has dead batteries, could end up dead.

Hydrogen Fueled military equipment makes a lot of sense, and yes there are technological challenges there too, but those will get worked out in private industry because there are so many potential applications from transportation to home use and beyond.

Still, at the end of the day militaries need what works, and they need it now, if they want to win, political correctness seems quite trivial when you are fighting a war with life and death in the balance, so reality takes front seat. If alternative energies can do it cheaper, more efficient and require less logistics for a moving army, you can bet they will be part of the mix of technologies, count on it.

Alternative Commuting – Electric Scooters

The variety of electric scooters and bikes can be overwhelming to anyone trying to choose one.

There are models solely for the little ones through to models that should only be for the disabled and elderly.

Many of these scooters (bikes are generally exempt anyway) do not require you to have a license, insurance or registration.

From Brands You Recognize

The common stand and stand/sit models like the Razor, GoPed and Super Turbo series are fun and easy to ride for anyone with a bit of balance. They are simplistic in there make up and are really just electric versions of the original kick scooter.

Honda, Yamaha, SYM, Kymco and a whole host of other brands are making their electric scooters based on many of their current gas powered step through’s. In fact if you don’t know what to look for it is hard to distinguish them apart.

Need For Speed?

The cheaper stand up versions are powered by brushed electric motors using sealed lead acid (SLA) batteries as there source of power. The range and travel speed of these models is very short and not that fast. Range for most is 15 – 20 miles (25 -35km) and speeds from 7 – 25mph (12 – 40km)

The larger sit down/step through models are more often powered by some of the latest technology brushless motors drawing from lithium (LiPo, LiFe)batteries, with capacities unheard of a few years ago.

These models easily achieve speeds of 35 – 50mph (50 – 80km) and can achieve ranges up to 100 miles (160km).

Affordable to All

As technology has advanced and become more readily available, the price to produce electric vehicles has dramatically reduced.

The cost of buying an electric scooter now matches or beats their fossil fuel burning counterparts. Or if comparing the kick type electric scooters, these are often cheaper than a cross country mountain bike.

Don’t misunderstand, I’m not a tree hugger but technology really has to move past the internal combustion engine. Electric may not be the replacement but it is a good stepping stone.

Prefer to Exercise?

In the same category as electric scooters, there is electric bicycles. The real difference is the bicycle still has pedals and when the battery goes flat you still have a means of transport.

Alternatively thinking, you can still get your morning exercise by pedaling but opt for the electric cruise home in the evening.

Electric scooters and bikes are popular in many countries and are welcome in bike lanes and pathways.

When you consider your purchase think of things like where you live, do have to lift it and where will it be stored. If storage is tight there are many folding electric scooters and bikes available.

For me my Super Turbo 800 Watt Elite is the perfect balance of fun and commuting.

Belkin BoostUp Wireless Charging Dock (iPhone/Apple Watch) | AirPower Alternative

Forget AirPower; if you want a wireless charging pad for your Apple Watch and iPhone (XS, XR and earlier models supported), check out Belkin’s BoostUp dock. At £140, the BoostUp isn’t cheap – but it’s one of the best clones we’ve reviewed as it’s both well designed and can power up your Apple smartwatch and smartphone simultaneously.

This Wireless Charging Dock can be bought direct from Belkin or Apple, or also found on Amazon’s UK site. That 7.5W iPhone pad works even if your mobile is covered with a plastic case, while the 5W Watch charger features a magnetic connection. Belkin has also included a USB-A port around the back of the dock, so you can power up something else at the same time.

Apple probably won’t be launching its own AirPower pad any time soon, so you might as well grab the BoostUp if cash ain’t no thing. This Belkin dock is compatible with all iPhones from the 8 and 8 Plus up to the new iPhone X, XS and XR. And all Apple Watches are also supported, from Series 1 to 4.

Safe Alternative To Vaniqa For Facial Hair Removal

Is there a safe alternative to Vaniqa cream for women wanting to do something about unwanted facial hair?

Yes there is! In fact, this alternative to Vaniqa was on the market some years before Vaniqa was finally approved by the FDA (Food And Drug Administration) for public distribution on prescription in the year 2000.

In the early 1990’s a lesser known company operating near Toronto in Canada by the name of Nisim International was carrying out extensive research in its laboratories for a natural herbal solution to hair loss.

In 1993 they released the NewHair Biofactors range which consisted of deep cleansing shampoos and a hair growth stimulator made from natural herbs. It received a positive write up in the Medical Post of 1993 and the article listed some impressive success results from the clinical trials. (See for the full text of the article)

In the course of this research the folks at Nisim stumbled on a way to not only stop hair loss and get hair to regrow, they also found a way to stop unwanted hair from growing by interrupting the mechanism for hair growth in the hair follicle.

This led to the release of Kalo Hair Growth Inhibitor in 1997, some years before Vaniqa arrived on the scene.

Vaniqa And Kalo Compared

There are some main differences between this alternative to Vaniqa and Vaniqa cream. For one thing, Kalo can be used by men, women and children whereas Vaniqa is only for women and girls under the age of 12 are recommended not to use it.

Vaniqa is available on prescription only, Kalo is a non-prescription hair growth inhibitor.

Some may raise a question over Kalo being a viable alternative to Vaniqa because it is not FDA approved. While that is true it is important to understand the process of FDA approval.

Vaniqa was brought to the market by two powerful giants in the personal care industry, Bristol-Myer Squibb and The Gillette Company. Will millions of dollars available they put up the necessary funding to get Vaniqa through the many years of tests and trials necessary before the FDA gives approval.

The final clinical trial results showed that 58% of women who used Vaniqa found a reduction in hair growth. That means a fairly large percentage did not see any difference.

The alternative to Vaniqa, Kalo, is produced by a small company without the massive resources available to the major pharmaceuticals. They also rely on word of mouth instead of pouring large sums into advertising. As a result, Kalo has grown in popularity and since the appearance of Vaniqa on the personal care scene, it has proven to be a viable non-prescription alternative to Vaniqa cream.

Reasonable Expectations

As with Vaniqa, Kalo doesn’t work for everyone. That’s why the company offers a money back guarantee. Given the rate of returns and refunds however, no more than about 1%, it is evident the majority of users are satisfied to a degree.

Finding an ideal method of facial hair removal is a matter of experimentation for many women before settling on the method that suits their pocket, skin sensitivity and lifestyle.

Combining the use of Vaniqa cream, or an alternative to Vaniqa such as Kalo, has helped thousands of women make facial hair removal sessions much easier and more convenient!
