I tell you the best way to my knowledge to charge a dead car battery. Then I show you how I hook up a battery charger. Thanks for watching.

If the battery is in the car unhook the ground first in American automobiles. Reason being if you are using a wrench to unhook the positive first you could hit a piece of metal and cause a short between the car frame and positive cable in which could lead to serious damage and personal injury. If you unhook the ground first when removing the battery than there will be no short and you can remove safely. Then you can remove the positive cable. And you install in reverse. Positive first then ground. Batteries can explode and do produce a hydrogen gas when charging, so it is best practice to charge outside in a safe secluded open area. As for this charger some say hook the black up first and some say hook the red up first. I always say this is how I do things and i made this video for informational purposes and you should always follow whatever the manufacturer instructions say. My Black & Decker drill decided to complete stop working and would not charge or function with the factory battery charger. I knew the battery had only a few cycles on it so it should be recoverable. The stock charger refuses to apply any charge if the cells are not at the correct level.

Here’s an easy fix anyone can do just be careful.

I used this drill all day afterward at the capacity seems right back to 100%. Beats the heck out of throwing it away.

How to revive a dead rechargeable power tool battery easily

How to revive a dead rechargeable power tool battery easily

Rechargeable batteries for power tools sometimes will no longer charge but often these can be easily restored back to life with this simple method. You should not try this with the more modern Lithium batteries.

The problem: You have a drill or other power tool with rechargeable batteries but one of the batteries is completely dead and when you plug it into the recharger unit it won’t recharge at all. The manufacturers would tell you that you need to buy a new battery. When you look into it you find that the cost a new battery is so high that you may as well just buy a new drill that comes with a couple of new batteries. Well all is not lost!

A friend in the UK told me about this method to revive a dead drill battery many years ago and I have used it successfully a number of times since. Basically, it seems that when a battery becomes completely discharged the charger unit effectively does not recognise that a battery has been inserted. This method puts enough charge into the battery so that it is not recognised by the charger and it gets recharged.

I take the dead Dewalt battery and a good fully-charged battery and place them side by side. I then use a couple of pairs of scissors to connect the terminals together (plus to plus and negative to negative). I keep them connected for a minute or so and by then the dead battery has sufficient charge to be fully recharged by the charger unit. Of course you can use two pieces of wire or something else to connect the batteries together but I have found scissors work well when doing it by yourself with only one pair of hands.

Although I have fix a Dewalt battery here I have used this method to fix other makes when the battery will not charge.

So, in future, if you have a dead NiMH power tool battery try this power tool battery fix first before buying new.

NOTE: In the video you will probably notice that the charging light is on when I put the battery in. This is because when I first filmed this I realised I had not pressed record on the camera. By then it was too late to redo it as the battery had some charge in it.

SUMMARY
-Modern lithium-ion batteries have built-in controllers to prevent any possible damage. They stop charging when the battery is 100% full, so you really have no reason to fear fire or phone damage.
-Experts at Battery University promise that your battery will serve you longer and more effectively if you keep it at 40 to 80%.
-In case you have a lightning protection system, no pets, and a legit charger, it’s up to you to decide whether or not you’ll leave your charger plugged into the wall.
-As long as you’re using a legit device and charger or an official replacement from the manufacturer, there’s no risk in using a plugged-in phone.
-If you decide to get a fake or uncertified charger, don’t be surprised when it doesn’t work as fast as the original or makes your battery barely last an hour.
-Giving your phone a break and turning it off at least once a week will help conserve its battery over time.
-Modern power circuits in laptops block battery charging when it’s full, so it’s totally safe to keep it constantly plugged in.
