Speaker 1: Today we’re going to take a look at the NOCO Genius Ultra Safe G 15,000 Battery Charger with jump charge engine start. This portable, automatic battery charger and maintainer helps you charge lead acid and lithium ion batteries. It’s designed for use on 12 volt and 24 volt lead acid batteries that includes the wet cell, gel cell, enhanced, flooded, calcium, maintenance free, and AGM batteries. It’s perfect for charging your car, boat, RV, SUV, or diesel truck. It’s also going to work out really good as a maintainer, so if your battery is already fully charged, you can apply this to it, and allow it to maintain that charge when sitting for extended periods. This is ideal for larger batteries, up to 400 amp hours on the 12 volt side, and 200 amp hours on the 24 volt side. It also has a constant voltage power supply mode.
This will help to retain memory in your vehicle when you’re doing a battery swap. The jump charge mode uses a combination of high current, and high voltage, so you can ensure good engine starting. It has a built-in battery maintenance technology that will monitor the battery activity, and it begins charging when needed. This allows for continuous operation without supervision, meaning there’s no risk of overcharging your battery.Built-in is also a battery de-sulphater, that’s design to rejuvenate under-performing batteries, and it can recover deeply discharged batteries, even down to 2 volts. We have a mode button here.
This allows you to select which of the charging modes that you want to use. The LED indicator will illuminate, indicating which mode is selected. It also has an auto-memory feature. That’s going to remember the last setting you had, and in the event of an accidental unplugging, or maybe even power loss, when that comes back on it’s going to return to that mode.Let’s go over a couple of the modes so you have an idea. We’re going to have 9 modes available.
8 are going to be our charge modes. We’ll start here with just a standard 12 volt battery. We’ve got normal mode, we’ve also got cold and AGM mode, so if we’re using an AGM battery, or if our battery is under 50 degrees, we can select that mode. Same with the 24, normal mode or the cold, AGM mode. Once we move down here, we’ve got our 12 volt lithium batteries, our 12 volt AGM batteries, and we’re going to have that supply mode that we talked about, keeping your presets, and then the repair mode for that battery recovery. We’ve got our black button right here, this is going to be our jump charge button.
We hit that, that’s going to use that high voltage, high current, to ensure we get proper engine starts. Now to connect the charger to the battery, it is supplied with these nice, heavy duty clamps. They’ve got some tension to it, for sure. It takes a little bit of pressure to get them squeezed, so I think they’re going to do a great job of holding onto your battery terminals. Seem to be well built, it’s a thicker material than you see on some of the cheaper options, and the teeth all line up really well. There’s no cross bites. We’ve probably struggled with that before. On the positive side, you’re going to have a fuse holder built in. Pop the top off of that, you see we’ve got a 40 amp, ATC style fuse in there, really convenient to change if you need to. This helps to protect both your battery and your charger, as you’re connecting them, and that will fail before any of the others do.Now connecting the clamps, we use the X connector. Now these are extremely rugged connectors, waterproof, dust proof, meant for use in even the harshest of environments. See it’s sealed all the way around there, giving it that waterproof capability, and then when slid to closed, we’ve got our lever lock right here, to ensure that won’t become disconnected. This is interchangeable. I like the fact that w
