Apple MacBook Air MC233LL-A 13.3 Inch Laptop

At its slimmest point it is 0.16 inch thick while at its thickest it is 0.76 inch which means that the Apple MacBook Air MC233LL / A is still one of the world's thinnest laptops available. Not much has really changed with this 13.3-Inch laptop's style and design as it bears the same aluminum uni-body look and feel. Its keyboard keys are full-sized and follow the chiclet-like style which makes for very comfortable and accurate typing while its multi-gesture track-pad is just awesome to use. At 3.0 pounds, it weighs a bit more than a netbook but is still the lightest laptop in its class.

Specifications for the Apple MacBook Air MC233LL / A have been upped somewhat as it now sports what the standard Apple MacBook Pro series is offering. This includes an Intel Core 2 Duo processor running at 1.86GHz with 2GB of DDR3 memory and Nvidia GeForce 9400M graphics. The 13.3 inch screen offers a 1280 x 800 pixel resolution while the hard drive is set at a rather small 120GB worth of storage. If you choose the slightly upper scale version you get the 2.13GHz processor with a 128GB solid state drive. The laptop offers 802.11 b / g wireless wi-fi and Bluetooth connectivity. As expected of Apple laptops, other connections are limited down to a single USB port, one mini DisplayPort and one audio jack.

Feature-wise the Apple MacBook Air MC233LL / A retains a built-in non-removable custom lithium polymer battery for up to 5 hours or more wireless performance. The laptop can handle office applications, Internet browsing and some light gaming. In addition, its 13.3 inch screen and better graphics allow it to handle smooth 720p HD video. As usual, it's the laptop's Mac OS X v10.6 Snow Leopard operating system which steps the show as it makes everything seamless and so easy to use. Regardless of how strong the uni-body is, the screen can still flex and sitting on the Apple MacBook Air MC233LL / A will definitely break it so be a bit more careful with it.

Overall, the Apple MacBook Air MC233LL / A is an excellent super stylish laptop for the trendsetter on the go, as you'll get a lot of admiring second and third looks just for the laptop alone. It is great that style is not all that the laptop has as it can do practically anything that a 13.3 inch laptop can do, making it a great choice for virtually anyone except the most extreme user.

GISSARAL GISCCA-AM2 – 90/110W Laptop Car Charger.

Cigarette Lighter/ Convenience Outlet 12V Socket
Laptop Charger Port PLUS 2 x USB slots

Overview of review/test parameters:
I have conducted extensive testing of this laptop charger, amongst several in-car charger devices for laptops and USB devices, in multiple vehicle 12 volt cigarette socket outlets, including car and van cigarette lighter 12 volt sockets and ‘convenience’ 12 volt sockets elsewhere within the vehicle.

I have tested them with power supplied by the vehicle’s main battery, by alternator*, and same specification sockets in a motorhome/caravan, in this case powered by leisure battery with and without solar.

Apple Laptop Models tested: Macbook Air 13 inch, Mid 2012, which usually uses a mains power 45W charger; Macbook Pro 15 inch Retina, Mid 2014, which usually uses a mains power 85W charger.First things first… is this the right charger specification you are looking for?
Which Laptops this charger can charge
The GISSARAL GISCCA-AM2 110W Laptop Car Charger is designed for charging the 2012 to 2015 Retina MacBook Pro MacBook Air and MacBook range of laptops using the MagSafe 2 Connector .

Or, feel free to read below for much of the video transcription:

Hi I’m Miles from Online Off-grid and we’ve found a GREAT Best Buy product review for you.

The car charger 12 volt socket charger for the laptop, the Gissaral 90 watt car charger.

And it’s just a box that comes with a very small… nice and compact… and it’s a pretty good quality looking device.

It’s very solid, it’s not heavy but it’s got a weight to it…

Now in this case we’re testing it with MacBook Apple laptops, so it comes with a special type connector that goes into the middle connector of the adapter and it then goes in this case to a MagSafe 2.

So, first of all, a couple key features about this product is it has three attachments… so one for a laptop in this case as I said to the MagSafe 2 connector, and you’ll see two USB slots, which can handle about 2 amps if they’re both used at the same time.

Plus the manufacturer claims this to be a fast charge device in terms of laptops as well.

Now here you will see a standard car 12 volt cigarette lighter socket… it does wiggle slightly. but it is fairly solid.

And here’s the reason why it’s so important… for charging laptops it takes a lot… a lot more power. And in some cases three or four times as much power as it takes to charge a mobile phone. So it’s incredibly important that these contacts here (on either side of the charger) which is where the power is delivered, have a really good secure fit in the socket.

So we’ve tested it in the front of the vehicle on the standard dashboard mounted cigarette lighter socket…

Now we are using a socket that’s in the motor home, which means it’s powered by a leisure battery (that’s a completely separate battery to the one the vehicle uses and it’s usually slightly larger and has a longer life and it gives power in a smoother process).

The other thing you can test (as we have done) is with solar power…

And you’ll see that a green LED light now is emitting there, just to denote the fact that it’s connected to a power source… and that the power source is good enough for charging it.

Also, you’ll see here in this list there are a vast array of Apple laptop models that this charger is designed to charge with this 90 watt setting.

So just two in the range here (that we are testing as listed above)… you get the white, Apple charger that comes with it and for a 15-inch MacBook Pro or Retina or otherwise, the charger is usually an 85 watt setting; and the 13 inch MacBook Airs, are typically a 45 watt charger.

So it means that you want to make sure that you get something that does denote that it has a 90 watt minimum setting if your going to have a Macbook like this.

Ok, so there you go! That’s the Gissaral AM 2, 90 watt charger!

The great thing about this product is.. which shows real confidence by the manufacturer, is that it has an 18 month warranty!

Now this one is at the upper range of the price brackets, however at £35 or £36 pounds, which is around about €40 or €45 euros, or even $40 or $45 dollars…

And the only con I can think of is that there are cheaper, less expensive chargers out there… but like most things, “you get what you pay for!”

And, we’ll be back with more product reviews to help you get “The Best Buy!”

See you later,

MacBook Pro Review

First impressions

The previous MacBook Pros were very good indeed. They delivered consistently professionally quality and great features. Reviewing next generation MacBook Pros is there before something of a treat.

An initial glance at the latest models shows nothing new. This is not disappointing: the sturdy casings and the smart design are exactly what you want from a superior laptop. The keyboard appears tidier – the result of some minor changes – but apart from that, everything looks as impressive as it always has.

This might suggest that any internal changes are also minor. Not so. When you fire up the MacBook Pros and start putting each model through its faces, you soon realize that you're working with machines that excel expectations.

To begin with, the processors are Intel 45 nanometer Penryns. These are noticeably faster than the 65 nanometer Meroms installed in the older MacBook Pros, and easily beat the Meroms in all benchmark tests.

The standard processors for the two 15-inch MacBook Pros are 2.4GHz and 2.5GHz Intel Core 2 Duos. The 17 inch has the 2.5GHz. Allied to these are enhanced hard drives of 200GB for the 15 inch 2.4GHz, and 250GB for the 15 inch and 17 inch 2.5 GHz.

Of particular interest to the multimedia user is the doubling of the video memory on all three MacBook Pros. The 15 inch 2.4GHz has a NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT with 256MB, and the 15 inch 2.5GHz and 17 inch 2.5GHz have the same graphics processor but with 512MB.

2GB of RAM supports the above technology across the range. The overall results are laptops that cope easily with advanced graphics and audio applications.

Hardware Each of the three MacBook Pros comes with standard hardware, such as:

  • slot-loading 8x double-layer SuperDrive
  • iSight camera
  • AirPort Extreme and Bluetooth® wireless connections
  • stereo speakers
  • FireWire 400 and 800 ports
  • USB 2.0 ports (two on the 15 inch models; three on the 17 inch)
  • DVI port
  • Audio ports
  • Gigabit Ethernet port
  • ExpressCard / 34 slot

There are also hardware "extras" that help the MacBook Pro stand out from the crowd. These include a powerful lithium-polymer battery; an ambient light sensor that illuminates the keyboard in dark conditions; and an energy-saving LED backlit screen.

These screens are mercury-free and anti-glare, and have resolutions of 1,440 x 900 pixels for the 15 inch models and 1,680 x 1,050 pixels for the 17 inch. With both you have bright, natural and pin sharp images.

Perhaps the best hardware extra of all, though, is the new MacBook Pro trackpad. This now has the multi-touch functions that have proved so popular on the iPhone. By pinching, swiping, and rotating your fingers on the trackpad, you have remarkably fast and positive control over the features of the MacBook Pro's creative software.

Multi-touch does give rise to a slight problem: the size of the trackpad may feel a little small for someone learning the appropriate gestures. That said, once you're familiar with multi-touch, it's not difficult to work within the trackpad's boundaries.

As with all new Macs, the MacBook Pro comes with the best operating system around, the Mac OS X v10.5 Leopard. If you've never used Leopard before, its profitability will delight you. If you're already a Mac user, you still have something to please you because the new MacBook Pros boost the speed of Leopard and the applications that run off it.

Among these applications is Apple's latest version of the world's fastest browser, Safari. This comes with the usual batch of updated Apple software such as Boot Camp, Mail, iChat, iTunes, DVD Player, iPhoto and iLife '08.

Experienced MacBook Pro users can load their preferred applications on these latest models and immediately notice the improvements in speed. For example, you can set up Photoshop CS3 in approximately eight seconds on the 15 inch 2.5GHz. You'll then go on to discover Photoshop runs 20 – 25% faster than a 2007 2.6 GHz MacBook Pro.

Compared to a 2006 MacBook Pro, the differences are even greater. Overall, you can experience speed increases of around 50% across a range of applications. This is good news for all those who want maximum performance from a laptop.

With any laptops designed for professional use, it's always worth looking at the manufacturer's options because some people will need a buffer zone of extra speed and power for specific applications.

The configuration options of the MacBook Pro are unlikely to let you down. To give you extra power, you can request a 2.6GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor upgrade for either the 2.5 GHz 15 inch or 17 inch models. As for RAM, you can upgrade any of the three MacBook Pros to 4GB.

On the 17 inch MacBook Pro, you might want to increase the hard drive to 300GB to provide additional room for space-stealing graphics applications. Similarly, you can ensure the perfect clarity of your images by asking for a 1,920 x 1,200 pixel screen for the same model.

Finally, if you prefer a glossy rather than anti-glare matt screen, you can request this when you place your order.

With all these upgrades packed into the same shells as the previous MacBook Pro models, you might expect a rise in prices. If you do, you'd be wrong. The new MacBook Pros are unquestionably better machines but the prices across the range have not changed. The old MacBook Pros were good value, but the latest incarnations are simply excellent for the price.

Want the best laptops from a great manufacturer? Look no further.

  • Speedier than the previous generation of MacBook Pros
  • Double the video memory
  • Smooth, multi-touch features on the trackpad
  • Improved battery life
  • Excellent configuration options
  • More for your money: no price increase compared to the older MacBook Pro equivalents

  • Trackpad may be a little small for novice users

Top MacBook Pro Alternatives

True Apple aficionados are often unwilling to consider the possibility that worthy PC alternative exist, and now is more true than when considering the top MacBook Pro alternatives. The amazing Apple laptop has found a position of dominance in the thin and light but high-performance "sweet spot" of laptop computing. But for an objective consumer who wants the best in laptop design and performance, it may be worth taking a closer look at top alternatives before making a final purchase decision.

We've done some homework for you, scanning top computer review sites in order to compile a list of what we believe are the chief contenders for a place on the list of top MacBook Pro alternatives:

HP Envy14 – This MacBook Pro look-alike features a 2.4 GHz Intel Core i5 M450 processor, 4 GB RAM and a 500 GB, 7200 rpm hard drive, offering plenty of performance, memory and storage. Its 14 "full high-definition LED widescreen display and audio system are among the industry's best. Unfortunately, the Envy is a reliably cumbersome 5.3 lbs. leave it on the list.

Sony VAIO Z Series – This 13-inch ultra-portable runs up to an Intel Core i7-640 processor with up to 3.47GHz, using Turbo Boost, and features up to a 512 GB solid state drive and up to 8 GB of RAM. Wow! The series also has switchable graphics, backlit keyboard, support for multiple SSD drives, and a brilliant display. A Best of the Year winner for 2010 by PC Magazine, the svelte laptop is both beautiful and powerful. Sound familiar? It is much more expensive, however, than the MacBook Pro, with a base starting price of $ 1800. Prices go even higher with the inclusion of luxe features like Blue-Ray and built-in broadband. If you believe that top Pro alternatives should be comparably priced, the Sony may be out of contention. But if you like an absolutely stunning laptop with power to spare, do not mark it off your list too quickly.

Samsung QX310-SO1AU – Another look-alike, with the "edge-to-edge" look and unibody design of the Pro, the Samsung model works with an Intel Core i5 460M processor, 4 GB of RAM and 320 GB of storage. It offers switchable graphics, a DVD burner, and a variety of ports. With power under the hood and a starting price comparable to the Pro, the Samsung QX310 comfortably earns a spot on top of MacBook Pro alternatives.

Dell XPS 14-inch – With a massive 6 GB of RAM and a NVIDIA GeForce GT 425M graphics card, the XPS beats the Pro on storage and graphics right out of the gate. It also features an Intel Core i3-380UM processor and a 500GV 7200 RPM hard drive. Powerful stuff! Only slightly heavier than the Pro, the XPS also comes with a 9-cell battery and DVD burner. With comparable configurations to the Pro, its price is almost identical. On the list of top MacBook Pros alternatives, it has a firm spot.

Looking for top MacBook Pro alternatives looks like an oxymoron to many Apple computer enthusiasts. However, PC lovers can find some excellent laptops that will hold their own. Prices vary widely, so pay attention to the configuration you are selecting – do not mix apples and oranges when you walk from a Mac system to a PC. That said, all the laptops described here sound like they are worth a test drive by the serious consumer who demands both style and power. For any of these top MacBook Pro alternatives, do not be afraid to take a second look.

The Chrome Netbook Vs MacBook Air

In May 2011, it was announced that Google Chromebooks will be commercially available in the mid of June. A lot of people who have been waiting for the launch of Chromebooks are now thinking to replace their computers with Chrome Netbooks. This article is just for you if you are a person using MacBook Air and thinking to switch to Chrome Netbook.

Chromebook is no MacBook; however, if you are looking for speed, affordability and convenience then Netbook could be the right choice for you.

A Chromebook saves all the data on Google's "Cloud" and has no space for storing data in the Chromebook itself. Chrome Netbook is specifically made for the people who just use computer to access internet.

MacBook Air costs almost $ 1299 and a Chromebook will cost almost $ 400. Let's compare some of the features of Chrome Netbook and MacBook Air.

The weight of Chromebook is around 3.8 pounds with a "12" screen.

The battery of Netbook is designed to last up to 8 hours when in use; on standby the battery can last up to a week. MacBook comes with a battery that offers 5 hours of web use; on standby it can last up to 30 days.

Both Chromebook and MacBook Air book within 10 seconds. Both devices start with 2 GB of RAM. However, with a MacBook Air, you can get a 4 GB Ram if you want. Both the devices have 64 GB of Storage.

Internet is a requirement for Netbook, it comes with Verizon 3G Connectivity and Wi-Fi. Google's Chrome OS website has stated that Verizon will give 100 MB of free data and they will also launch an affordable package for Chrome Netbook users.

The starting price of Netbook is $ 299 and that of the MacBook Air is $ 999.

A graphic designer or an avid gamer can not replace his MacBook with a Chrome Netbook as the latter is not designed for applications like Photoshop or games like Halo. However, students and people who like convenience and simplicity should opt for Chrome Netbook. As all the data is saved on the Cloud, therefore, there is no risk of losing the data, even if you lose or damage your Netbook. Chromebook is also very economical as compared to MacBook. So what you think? Which one is better for you?

Well, as you may have suspected, people online tend to review products primarily to shill their sponsored affiliate links… So if you really want a decent battery make sure you at get a power bank with PD (Power Delivery) and to be certain make sure you calculate the Watts provided, as some products may state that they charge up to X Watts but in the small print you find out that the figure stated on the box is the combined charge rather than the actual charge per port.

Overall though, I used both batteries for a good 6 months and while they were slow to charge given that they max out at 18 watts, they did hold a lot of charge, so I can say that they’re both solid products.
