This is a important video on desulfation of lead acid batteries. It is a very important method, to extend the life and desulfate using Epson salt and pulse technology to increase the amps capacity and amp and cold cranking amp or cca of a sulfate sulfated lead acid battery. Lead-Acid Batteries can become sulfated or build up sulfate over time, requiring desulfation to correct the sulfate problem of the battery. the use of a epson salt and capacitive battery charger can correct this disastrous. Just make sure you do you desulfate your lead-acid batteries carefully. Using a capacitive battery charger to pulse the battery can help break down the sulfate and restore the amps and cold cranking amps. This method of desulfation is very important. Desulfate and recycle! Sulfate build up is bad! Mmmmkay! This method is also a good way to recycle lead acid batteries, as recycling is good, ok!

I had this optima red top in my bronco for about 8 years. Its finally started getting weak so I changed it out with a yellow top. I decided to see if I could get some more life out of it. I first started out with the desulfation fucntion on the black and decker then changed over to the wizband desulfator.

Flying Remote Control Planes Alone (Part 1)

Two basic options are relevant to the subject; the first is “Will you be flying alone or with a group of flight enthusiasts?”. If you are flying alone, there are some basic considerations that must be taken into account. We will cover flying in groups later in a separate articles.

When flying alone, a few things to keep in mind are as follows:

a) Location: If there is a good runway without obstructions, high voltage lines, or lots of people then you are most likely safe and good to go. Let’s explore this a little further. Obstructions must be flown around and if your skill level is not top notch, it is very likely that you will cause a catastrophic loss to your aircraft. High voltage line while easy to miss do pose a threat as they can interfere with your transmitter which again will create a likelihood that you will crash. Remember that people are obstructions and the more people the higher the possibility that you may crash your plane into a crowd causing injury and possible lawsuits. It is fun to have people watch your flight and many people will gravitate to the lure of flight; but, you need to be proficient. If you are just starting out, make sure you are alone or with trusted friends standing behind you.

b) Pre-Flight Checks: Just as pilots of full size aircraft complete a pre-flight check list, you must also do the same before taking flight. The reason is simple; mechanical and electrical devices are prone to failure. Ensure that the transmitter controls are in a neutral position. Example: do not have the throttle at full speed. Then place your plane on the ground and turn on the transmitter and connect the battery on the plane to the appropriate connection. Check your transmitter battery power level as weak batteries could bring your plane down. While your plane is on the ground, test out the controls on the transmitter to ensure they respond as expected. This applies to three, four, or even six channel controllers. Select a good take off runway and taxi your plane down the runway and back without actually getting enough speed to leave the runway. If everything seems to be operating as expected, go down the run way with a little more speed and gently lift off the ground and then land again. Do this several times. Things you want to look for when you lift off are shifts in your planes direction (left or right). Adjust any shifting issues with the trim controls on your controller. If this does not fix the problem, you may need to adjust the hard linkage to correct the problem.

The Bus To Victoria Island: Part 2



I continue the journey at Tsawwassen Ferry Terminal and travel across the Georgia Straight on BC Ferries “The Spirit of British Columbia.” The BC Connector Bus handled all the Ferry fees so all you have to do is hang out on the Ferry for about 95 minutes while the ship navigates through the beautiful Gulf Islands. The bus ride was great on both sides of the Ferry. Russ was a great driver/guide. The BC Connector Bus is highly recommended.

The Ferry ride was stunningly beautiful. However, I’m easy to impress because it was my first voyage on a Ferry…or any boat in the ocean. It was a sunny day but kind of windy and cool on the deck. According to Ferry staff, this wind was no big deal. When it gets to 70 knots they stop the Ferry. I’m not sure what the wind speed was on this day in the middle of the Straight, but it was more than enough.

The ship swayed a little but I didn’t get seasick. Just a slight headache and nausea. Mindset is everything, so it helped to keep busy exploring and shooting lots of video and not thinking about worst case scenarios. The kind you see on the news all the time.

The technology involved to create these big ships and navigate them great distances across the ocean is very impressive. Being on the ocean makes you feel small, insignificant, and quite vulnerable. It’s an interesting perspective. Inspiring and humbling at the same time.

Gear: iPhone XS (1080p30 HEVC). Google Pixel 3 (720p30 Cinema FV-5 app). The 720p30 was a mistake, it should have been set to 1080p30. Edited in FCPX, rendered to 1080p30 ProRes LT. Uploaded to Youtube as a ProRes LT file and it took awhile. Still trying to find a way to make the movie look as good on Youtube, as it does on my computer. But just like all the other uploads, this version only looks okay at 1080p (and not the other resolutions).

I traveled super minimalist on this trip because it was only two nights and three days. Using smart phones is such a great way to go if you want to be a minimalist filmmaker. Two phones, two battery chargers, cables, USB drive, and a spare battery pack. All you need to shoot all day long. And you can pack that into one big coat pocket. Can’t do that with a dedicated camera system.
