Types of Computer Security

Computer security deals with data protection on a standalone computer or a network of computers. With the increase in the development of malware and the expansion of the computer network layers so rapidly, the security levels also need to be constantly upgraded to ensure that the data storage is robust and safe.

Data is primarily protected by authorizing user access through passwords or encrypted data transfer. However, if such confidential data leaks out, the security of the system is highly at stake. Hackers can intrude into the system if they can somehow decode the encryption format or get access to the password through unethical means.

The following are some of the common security threats in a computer network:

• Trojan Horse: These malicious programs are commonly developed by hackers to gain unauthorized access into private networks and acquire complete remote access of a computer.
• Denial of Service: Hackers can bring a huge computer network to a complete standstill by gaining unauthorized into the network and disabling certain important services.
• Viruses and Worms: They are dangerous programs that can self-replicate and spread to other computers in the network.
• Sniffing: In this case, the hacker eavesdrops and interprets the network packets during data transfer.

Data loss occurs not only in computer networks but also in stand-alone computers. For example, hard disk crashes may result in irrecoverable damage resulting in data loss. Hence, it is necessary to take regular backups, rewritable as well as permanent storage mediums.

In addition, one has to ensure that the antivirus software is regularly updated in order to protect the computer from being hacked.

The Various Styles and Types of Electric Scooters

Electric scooters are especially designed for those individuals who suffer from low mobility. These scooters are battery operated vehicles that have the capacity of carrying only a single person. Mostly designed for people who find it difficult to walk or stand for long periods of time, an electric scooter can be deployed for both indoor and outdoor use.

An electric kids scooter usually comes in a varied range of styles that are capable to accommodate different user needs. The scooter could have three, four or more wheels. There is also no concern over environmental pollution. The batteries used in these scooters can be recharged and there’s no need to recharge them on regular basis. The distance and time covered by electric scooters after every charge, however, depends upon the capacity of the batteries. Equipped with advanced braking systems, stopping and starting these scooters are very simple. Besides, they also come equipped with a parking brake that prevents the scooter from rolling when it is parked.

There are several types of electric scooter. First there’s the foldable or transportable scooter. As the name suggests, these scooters can be easily folded and tucked away for easy storage. They can be transported any time. They are perfect for those who love to travel, these scooters can be disassembled to three or four light parts.

Then there’s the three-wheeled variety. These scooters offer durability and full-sized comfort. Suitable both for outdoor and indoor use, they can carry a maximum weight of 300 to 500 pounds.

You can get heavy duty electric scooters which are especially built for heavy people who have a body weight of over 350 pounds. These scooters are available both in three-wheeled and four-wheeled variety and have a carrying capacity till 500 pounds.

The four-wheeled variety of electric scooters provides the maximum stability and support. This comes from the extra wheel that is attached to the scooter. Designed mostly for outdoor use, the four-wheeled scooter can achieve a maximum speed of 10 mph.

Whatever are the styles and type, an electronic based scooter has come as a boon for many. Besides making a notable contribution towards reducing the carbon footprint on earth, these vehicles have come as a boon to the aged and elderly. Women too have found these scooters to be much easier to manage when compared to mopeds. No wonder these scooters are increasingly finding favor among all sections of people.

Different Types of Yachts

Mention a yacht to the uninitiated, and they will picture a view in their minds of a beautiful vessel with a large sail, cruising majestically out at sea. While that idea may be quaint, yachts come in a whole variety of types and sizes.

There are vessels as small as 15 ft and they can be as long as 200 ft. They can be powered by sail or by motor – electric or diesel. Some are powered by a combination of both motor and sail.

Yachts were traditionally constructed out of wood. But over the last 60 years other materials have been adapted and now fiberglass, or lightweight metals such as titanium and aluminum are also used.

Sailing vessels also come under different types. The sloop is the most common nowdays with a main sail and jib. A spinnaker may also be added to aid sailing downwind. There are also multi-hulled varieties of boats such as the catamaran or trimaran, which provide much more stability than single-hulled vessels when in the water.

Yachts are divided into various classifications according to size. Day sailing yachts are under 20ft and do not have a cabin. The weekender is larger and has twin keels, enabling sailing in shallow waters. They can cope with journeys thinking two to three days. At a size of 45 ft and above, cruising yachts are the most common type for private use. They are often used by families, and have several cabins below deck. These cruisers are can be tailor-made to the owners' requirements.

Yachts are often seen as the preserve of multi-millionaires. While this is not strictly true it certainly applies to the more high end and luxury vessels that are also known as superyachts. These are large complex vessels, 82ft and above, often requiring their own dedicated power systems. Solar-powered generators are often included for long voyages.

Types of DUI Charges and Possible Enhancements

Drunk driving and intoxicated driving charges are very serious, and the law uses such cases to set an example. The penalties and laws surrounding such charges vary from state to state, as do the possible enhancements that can increase the severity of the charges.

Possible Enhancements

Potential enhancements depend on several factors, but the most common types of enhancements to drunk driving charges include operating a motor vehicle with a BAC of 0.15% or higher, drunk driving with a minor as a passenger, drunk driving that causes another person bodily injury, and drunk driving that causes the death of another person. Below you will find a brief description of the most common types of intoxicated driving charges in the United States.

Aggravated DUI

An aggravated DUI is any average DUI charge, but with enhancements. See enhancement examples above. Aggravated DUI charges are the same thing as Felony DUI charges, which is the term used in most states. Additional aggravated DUI offenses include DUI in a school zone, operating a school bus under the influence of drugs or alcohol, driving intoxicated without a valid license, having multiple convictions within a short time frame, and more.

Drugged Driving (DUID)

Alcohol is not the only substance that can lead to a DUI arrest. Operating a vehicle while under the influence of Schedule I or Schedule II drugs, whether legal or illegal, can lead to a DUID charge in most states, which stands for “driving under the influence of drugs.” A police officer can legally arrest you for a DUID charge simply based on a reasonable suspicion that such drugs are in your system.

DUI Accidents

Driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol is a serious crime in itself; but couple it with an accident and the charges get worse. For example, in Indiana, DUI-related accidents are labeled as Felony DUI charges, and come with severe penalties.

DUI Manslaughter

When DUI accidents end with fatalities, the charges increase to DUI manslaughter. Although the fatalities in these cases are unintentional, the charge still come with very severe penalties in most states. DUI manslaughter is a Level 5 Felony, which is a very serious charge.

Felony DUI

First-offense DUI charges are generally misdemeanors. But with enhancements or previous convictions, DUI charges turn into a felony very fast. Such factors include multiple convictions, fatalities, presence of children, bodily harm, property damage, and more. With the help of a tough defense lawyer, felony DUI charges can sometimes be reduced to lower felonies or misdemeanors.

Misdemeanor DUI

A typical DUI charge is a misdemeanor crime, unless there are enhancements involved, or a person has prior DUI convictions within a certain time frame (usually 5 to 10 years). First time DUI offenses are Class C misdemeanors, but with BAC levels higher than 0.15%, they jump to Class A misdemeanors. With the help of a lawyer, Level 6 felony DUI’s can often times be reduced to DUI misdemeanors.

Property Damage DUI

When a DUI accident ends with property damages, the penalties and fines increase dramatically. A person can expect longer jail time, harsher sentencing agreements, and extreme fines. And although these are considered aggravated DUIs, they are not always charged as felonies. However, if property damages are extensive, the charge is likely to increase to a felony.

Underage DUI

Most states have a “per se” stance on underage drinking and driving. This means there is a zero-tolerance rule for underage drinking. Any person under the age of 21, the national legal drinking age, is forbidden to consume or purchase alcoholic beverages. Underage drinking is a crime in itself, but combined with driving and DUI charges, underage drinkers face serious penalties. Standard penalties include license suspension, jail time, probation, hefty fines, community service, and diversion programs.

Types of War

War has been defined in various ways. For present purposes, we may define was as sustained intergruop violence in which state military forces participate on at least one side or on both sides in the case of interstate war and generally on only one side is the case of civil war. In a world of standing military forces it is hard to say exactly where peace ends and war begins. A military battle that is not sustained over time may or may not be considered a war. The brief Chinese-Soviet border clashes in March and July 1969, for example, entailed several small battles at a few points along the border, in which some hundreds of people were killed. Similarly ambigous is a long term violent struggle involving irregular forces, such as in Northern Ireland. There, uniformed British military forces waged a sustained violent struggle with a non state army, the Irish Republican Army (IRA), until a cease-fire that has held on and off since 1995.

Thus, many different activities are covered by the general term war. Consequently, it is not easy to say how many wars are going on in the world at the moment. Wars are very diverse. Several types of war tend to arise from different situations and play different sorts of roles in bargaining over conflicts. Starting from the largest wars, we may distinguish the following main categories.

Hegemonic War is a war over control of the entire world order – the rules of the international system as a whole, including the role of world hegemony. This class of wars is also known as global war, world war, general war or systemic war. The last hegemonic war was World War II.

Total War is warfare by one state waged to conquer and occupy another. The goal is to reach the capital city and force the surrender of the government, which can then be replaced with one of the victor’s choosing. The 2003 Iraq War is a classic case. Napoleonic Wars, which introduced large-scale conscription and geared the entire French International economy toward the war effort. In total war, the entire society mobilized for the struggle, the entire society of the enemy is considered a legitimate target.

Limited War includes military actions carried out to gain some objective short of the surrender and occupation of the enemy. For instance, the U.S led war against Iraq in 1991 retook the territory of Kuwait but did not go on to Baghdad to topple Saddam Hussain’s government. Many border wars have this character; after occupying the land it wants,a state may stop short and defend its gains.

Civil War refers to war between factions within a state trying to create, or prevent, a new government for the entire state or some territorial part of it. The U.S Civil War of the 1860’s is a good example of a secessionist civil war.

Guerrilla War which includes certain kinds of civil wars is a warfare without front lines. Irregular forces operate in the midst of and often hidden or protected by, civilian populations. The purpose is not to directly confront an enemy army but rather to harass and punish it so as to gradually limit its operation and effectively liberate territory from its control.

In short, Wars are constantly taking place between states as well as in the states since the inception of history itself. It will remain till the world exists because of various desires of individuals and state-actors as well.

Types of Bicycle Lights

There are many different bicycle lights to choose from, and it can be difficult to choose the best one for your needs. Things to consider include the type of light bulb, the power source, and where you want to mount the light to your bicycle.

Bicycle head lights are those mounted to the front of your bicycle that are white and help you to see ahead of you and helps others (drivers and pedestrians) see you. Depending on your riding conditions, you may settle for a cheap headlight system that is more to help others to see you to prevent accidents, or you might need a bright light to help you find your way on a dark bicycle path.

Depending on the length of time and frequency of your nighttime riding, you may decide on an alkaline battery powered light, or one that you can charge while at work before your evening bicycle commute home. The type of light bulb (LED, and halogen are two common types) can affect how long the battery lasts, and also the price of the system.

Rear bicycle lights are always red and are strictly to help others behind you to see you. These lights can be set to blink mode or steady. Blink mode is essential to your safety especially while riding on a road at night. The blinking will help draw attention to you while a steady light might else be overlooked. These lights most commonly use LED bulbs. Some rear bicycle lights can be seen a great distance, while others might not be bright enough to be seen quickly by drivers in conditions where there are many other lights around.

Different types of bicycle lights also have different power sources. The simplest and most basic are standard non-rechargeable alkaline batteries. These batteries are cheap, but they are wasteful. However, they tend to last a very long time. Many bicycle lights these days are using lithium-ion batteries. These small compact batteries hold a long charge and can be recharged hundreds of times. Many lithium-ion powered lights can even be charged from the USB ports on your computer giving you a quick and easy way to charge your lights without having to use a dedicated charging adapter.

While headlights are typically mounted to your bike's handlebars, many lights can also be fitted to your helmet. By having the light on your helmet, it enables you to direct the light to exactly where you need it. This can be helpful in intersections since it allows you to direct the light right at a driver to help them notice you. Rear lights are typically mounted to your seat post, but many can also be mounted to your clothing or a backpack.

Although there are many different types of bicycle lights to choose from, it is essential that you have lights on when you ride in low light conditions or at night. Your safety depends on it!

Digital Camcorder Media Types Explained

For a long time, digital camcorders have been limited in all sorts of ways by the fact that they have to use removable media. The camcorder has to be big enough that the media can fit inside, you have to buy the media and remember to carry it around with you, and you can only film as much as can fit on your media. Now, though, these restrictions are fading away: we're entering the era of the tapeless camcorder.

What do I mean by 'tapeless'? Well, basically, I'm talking about hard disk camcorders. These are digital camcorders that work the same way as your iPod or Tivo – they have a hard disk drive inside the store the data on. Modern video compression combined with the ever-increasing capacity and ever-declining physical size of hard disks has finally made them practical for these kinds of portable uses. The massive success of the iPod has forced down the price of portable hard disks, and digital camcorders are the next thing to benefit.

Using a hard disk camcorder is just so much easier. All you need to do is charge it up, point it at what you want to film, and switch it on. They're film for hours and hours before they get full – generally around 50 hours, but you can get more if you want. When you're done, just plug it into a computer (or use a Bluetooth wireless connection), save the movie to the hard drive, and you're ready to go again.

Of course, hard disk camcorders are also much smaller than other digital cams, and can be almost any shape their designer feet like, which generally servers to make them much nicer to hold and use. If you're not sure what to get, I can recommend the JVC Everio line as the original and still so far the best, but it's still early in this market yet.

Understanding Stress – The 3 Types of Stresses!

When people think of stress, they usually think of it as a bad thing, certainly not good thing, but stress can actually be beneficial. Stress is classified into three types: Eustress, Neustress and Distress. They differ on how they affect a person or individual. Let’s tackle them one by one.

Eustress is the good kind of stress. It is stress that gives motivation and inspiration. This stress arises from many situations. For example, being promoted or winning a new job gives a person a bit of stress in the sense that they will have to adjust to new working conditions as well as create new relationships with new co-workers together with job performance expectations. It is, however, a good stress in that it gives you motivation to do your job well and the promotion or job offer itself serves as a reward or a prize for the hard work you have done.

The second type of stress is distress. It is basically the complete opposite of Eustress in terms of its effect on an individual. This type of stress causes ill effects to a person and is what people usually refer to when talking about stress. If someone is talking about stress it is almost always concerned with negative distress. Distress causes despair, grief, and sadness or more simply it disturbs the equilibrium of the body. An example of a stressor that can cause distress is the death of a spouse, major medical difficulties or some major loss of property or position. At its worst it will certainly cause grief and depression and will often be a life changing event.

The last type of stressor is called neustress. Neustress comes from the prefix ‘neu’ meaning neutral and is basically a type of stress that lies in the neutral reaction zone. It is a stress that doesn’t cause any particular harm or grief to the individual to the extent that it causes distress. Nor is it necessarily positive or a motivating change stress.

For an example imagine a person at a store overhearing someone else’s conversation. That person may be talking about their son’s sickness or misfortune or even death with their friend. While a person may react to it and feel sympathy to the person concerned but it will only last moments and it will not affect the person in a either a negative or in a positive way, certainly not in the same way or to the same extent that knowing the person concerned would affect them and therefore it is considered a neutral impact. Simply put, think of it as a judge hearing out a case of murder, the judge doesn’t take sides but only views the facts and decide what’s right and just.

The ultimate impact though of the types of stress you are experiencing comes down to how you perceive or see the stressor, in light of your own opinions and world view. What hardly affects one person at all but have a great impact on another. Whether you take an event as good, bad or neutral is… well… at the end of the day… up to you.
