These turbines look good but barely generate 10 % of their advertised output. I suspect the included charge controller being connected to the battery uses more power than the turbine can produce in an average month.
Waste of money, better off with another solar panel.
I plan to ditch the generator and bolt the blades to my own modified smartdrive permanent magnet generator, should make around 500 watts in a good wind.
To the trolls assuming my cable is too light and complaining about tree top turbulence, please read the following to put your minds at ease -:
Turbine has no problem getting up to full speed, infact I find the tree line ramps up and increases wind speed just above the tree tops in this location, sure there is some turbulence but when I see the blades spinning full speed I know its not a major issue. Cable loss is negligible with such a low output from the turbine -my wire gauge 4mm2, cable length 20m, max 20a advertised output from turbine 20a = AC energy loss of 20.78% worst case scenario with advertised output. Now from testing on the bench at recommended rpm with near flat 24v batt as a load, wired through the reg/rec as shown in the manual and experimenting with various loads including a 12v battery I know maximum output is more like 65w which would give me a cable loss of 3.1% not enough to worry about.

Have you ever jumped in your RV for a weekend, or week long getaway, only to find that the batteries in your RV were dead, or close to it. That means no TV, no fan, no fridge, no lights – all those necessities you take for granted at home, but can disappear in a heartbeat when your batteries aren’t charged. Or, of course, you could run out and buy new batteries every time you need them. But that doesn’t help when you use up all of your power on the road and you need to recharge your batteries.
However, the Complete RV Wind Energy Kit from Silicon Solar can help keep your batteries charged and ready to go, even when you are miles away from the nearest electric outlet. This unique kit allows you to install a Wind Generator on your that is powerful enough to keep your batteries fresh and charged at all times, can be quickly hoisted up in the air when you are parked and lowered when you are heading out on to the road.
The Complete RV Wind Energy Kit includes all of the following; the major components you need to get your system installed and up and running in no time.
· Kit includes Air X Land Wind Generator in either 12, 24 or 48V Configuration
· Also includes 15 ft Telescoping RV Tower Kit that attaches to your RV and quickly raises and lowers your wind generator
The Complete Wind Energy RV Kit is comes in one size, and provides enough power to charge the batteries of even the most heavily used RVs, and can easily be installed in a few hours – getting you back on the road and ready to go in no time.
Do not attempt to replicate the test in the video as the spinning blades can hurt you.
I have a small Epson dc motor which can be used to make a wind turbine to charge AA batteries. Initial tests was 2 volts with a drag type blade. I made the blade more aerodynamic and was able to increase the voltage to over 4 volts. Subsequent testing with a more flattened blade yielded over 6 volts. I will try to use aluminum flashing for my next test. This together with a dc to dc step up converter can regulate the output to a pre-detemined voltage and make the motor more usable. With a leisurely wind, the motor should be able to put out 2 volts or so which should be enough to charge a set of AA batteries in parallel. I can use a schottky diode to reduce the voltage drop between the wind turbine and the batteries.

Because of the uncontrollable price hikes of conventional energy sources such as fossil fuels, green and renewable energy has become one of the most common subjects in every conversation. People are now focusing on how to make a wind generator that is efficient enough to power off grid homes. The exhilarating technologies that offer a clean and sustainable energy source that is free and off the grid has captured the interest of a lot of individuals. Places or locations that have a stable and high amount of wind are prime spots to build a wind powered generator that will help to supply your household's electrical requirements. Although making a wind generator yourself can be quite a challenge, it is entirely possible.
In making your own home wind generator, you should first measure the wind around your property and in the general area using an anemometer. Look for an anemometer that you can easily set up and return by the end of the day. Check the results of your survey by looking at the stats such as the highest wind speed recorded as well as the average wind speed. Make sure to measure the wind speed in various locations several times to establish the best spot to construct your wind generator. Generally, a ten mile hour wind speed will produce around a hundred watts of electricity for a wind generator system with a four meter blade diameter.
If you carefully observes some of the how to make a wind generator guides, you will learn that you can convert the powered treadmill motor into a stable magnet alternator. Try to break open the housing of the treadmill to access the generator. It should read "permanent magnet motor". Carefully attach the base of the blades from the turbine casing to the flywheel that is securely fastened to the end of the treadmill motor. Put in the blocking diode that will be positioned between the motor and the deep cycle batteries to make sure that it will not drain the batteries.
You can now get a set design so you can start carving your blades. The most critical features on your propellers are the number of blades you will use as well as the length or diameter. Bear in mind that the larger the blades are, the more wind will be captured by the system, which can generate a greater amount of electricity. However, the larger the blades, the slower they will spin. In other words, large blades are only suited for areas with strong wind speeds.
When assembling your hub, make sure that it is big enough to house the treadmill's power generator, which will be converted into a permanent magnet alternator. Surely fasten the turbine blades onto the front of the housing and the tail in the back. Carefully weld the permanent magnet motor to the casing for the wind generator hub. If it is possible to attach them without welding, sometimes by using zip ties or other types of connecting materials like a strong adhesive or bolts and screws, then that would be better.
Hook up the appropriate wiring from the generator to the deep cycle batteries. Make sure that when you put the electricity regulator in the circuit, it is between the batteries and the generator. This way, your system can block any excess electricity from going to the batteries and shortening their life span. Now you have done the impossible and learned how to make a wind generator on your own.
